WordCamp Sofia Call for Speakers

WordCamp Sofia 2017 will take place on November 11-12, 2017 and we are looking for speakers. We accept submissions for talks both in Bulgarian and in English. The talk time is going to be 30 minutes + 10 minutes for questions.

Luca Sartoni at WordCamp Sofia 2015

As a speaker at the event, you will have a change to reach an audience of 500 people and share your experience and know-how with them.

We are looking for talks on the following topics:

  • Blogging and content creation
  • WordPress development
  • Contributing to WordPress and related open source projects
  • PHP, plugin development, theme development, speed, containers, virtual machines
  • JavaScript, single page apps with WordPress, React
  • Cyber security, privacy, legal issues related to online presence
  • Business, working with clients
  • Design, UI, UX
  • Тime management/dealing with stress/distributed work
  • Testing
  • Anything else you deem appropriate for a WordCamp.

We encourage you to apply for more than one topic as this highly increases the chance for being selected. It’s very common for several speakers apply with the same topic, and other subjects are harder to cover. First time speakers are welcome, as long as they have an interesting story to tell and are willing to prepare early.

We ask speakers to submit their presentations and slides at least 2 weeks prior to the event. We’ll provide assistance in the preparation, if you need it. We all know the urge to postpone the preparation until the last night, but talks are better when prepared well.

Keep in mind that the talks will be presented in front of a camera and a crowd of awesome people. We’ll ask you to sign an A/V release form. By applying for a speaker, you also agree to comply with WordCamp Sofia’s Code of conduct.

To apply for a speaker, simply fill in the form below. The deadline for submitting a talk is September 1st, 2017.

Thank you for your interest and good luck!

If you’d like to propose multiple topics, please submit the form multiple times, once for each topic.
